Category Guide

Format
We group titles by format, such as films, TV series, documentaries and reality programs, cartoons and animation, anime, and short films. Each listing is labeled only when we have reliable information about its format.

Audience & Access
Audience labels describe who a title is generally made for, such as children, family, teens, or adults. Language and access labels cover sign language featured and captions/subtitles information. Each title only receives labels supported by reliable information, and age suitability, sign language, captions, and access details must be checked title by title.

Deaf representation & Region
Deaf representation labels distinguish Deaf-led titles, Deaf performers, Deaf and hard-of-hearing participants in unscripted programs, and Deaf characters portrayed by hearing actors. Region labels cover broad areas such as North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Oceania and other regions. We only apply labels that are supported by reliable information for each title.
Caption and subtitle availability and quality vary by platform and title.
